Zand is a group and investment company founded by entrepreneurs Shabnam Aslani and Mikael Cwyl. The company's purpose is to develop and grow its own companies, while also investing in external impact companies with exciting potential. With the help of an entrepreneur-driven team, zand creates and develops companies within industries such as tech, real estate, design and more. Zand also aims to function as an investment company that contributes with capital, entrepreneurial expertise, and our extended network that we have grown over the years.

THE HISTORY

Karim Khan Zand

Rooted in the culture of  Iran and the family of Zand, we’re named after Karim Khan Zand who was the tribal leader of the Lurian tribe ‘Zand’ and regent of southern Iran from 1760 to 1779. With the family of Zand, we not only share kinship from many generations back, but  similar values and ethos. Karim was an honorable man of good character that became  known around the world for his humility, kindness and heroism. During his time as regent, he persistently handled rivals and conflicts using kindness and relation-building, rather than fighting. For over 20 years, Karim gave the war-weary people a sense of calm, security and justice which made him very popular among the people of Iran. To this day, Karim Khan Zand is regarded as one of the most significant regents of the Persian Empire.
